At the Kakuba Charity Foundation, we believe that access to safe, secure, and sustainable housing is a fundamental human right.
That's why our Shelter Support Program is dedicated to empowering families in Uganda with the resources and skills they need to build and maintain their own resilient homes.
Through this comprehensive initiative, we take a multi-pronged approach to addressing the complex challenge of housing insecurity. At the heart of our efforts are community-based construction training programs, where we equip aspiring builders and homeowners with the technical knowledge and hands-on expertise to design, build, and maintain durable, disaster-resistant structures.
Our hands-on workshops cover everything from sustainable building materials and energy-efficient design to disaster-preparedness techniques and home maintenance. By arming community members with practical, real-world skills, we're helping to ensure that families have the resources they need to construct safe, comfortable, and long-lasting homes.
Beyond individual and family-level support, the Shelter Support Program also focuses on strengthening entire communities. We collaborate with local leaders and urban planners to develop comprehensive, community-driven housing strategies, addressing issues like land tenure, infrastructure development, and sustainable urban design.
